GEOGRAPHY

Morocco is located only 14km from Spain in the northwest corner of Africa and is bordered by the North Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Algeria and Mauritania are the land borders to the east and south. The high Atlas Mountains separate the mild coastline from the harsh Sahara.

HISTORY

Morocco history is interesting with several dynasties that have succeeded one another over the years: the Idrisside dynasty, the Almoravid dynasty, the Almohad dynasty, the Merinid dynasty, the Saadian dynasty and the Alaouite dynasty, Morocco has gained international consideration as a multicultural country, with several types of heritage recognized as World Heritage by UNESCO. Morocco is one of the go-to destinations for discovery lovers, the most fascinated by nature, history, the art of living and Moroccan hospitality. MEDINAS (Old cities)

Despite its Modern transformation, Morocco has never lost sight of its deep-rooted traditions. The magical Medina is on of the traditional Moroccan culture embedded in people’s daily life.

HISTORICAL REMAINS

Morocco has a long-standing and rich history. Traces of the past still lives on since pre-Roman and Roman, Phoenician, ancient and prehistoric, including traces of dinosaurs or rupestral. Everywhere, they testify to the rich heritage of the country and promise you an enriching stay.

Volubilis Roman city : Located near Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, Volubilis is an archaeological site that was listed by UNESCO as World Heritage. Considered as the main Roman ruins of Africa, Volubilis symbolizes the multiple cultural influences in Morocco.

Lixus, Hercules’ Golden Apple Garden : 7 km from the town of Larache, on the Rabat-Tangier road, nestles Lixus. It is an ancient city which brims with vestiges that are symbolizing some aspects of ancient civilizations: the Carthaginians, Romans and Muslims took refuge there.

GASTRONOMY

Morocco’s culinary heritage embraces the deep-rooted traditions and cultural variety of the country. Couscous, Tajine, Pastilla, Mrouzia, and R’fissa, are some of the emblematic dishes of the country that you can’t resist.  Subtly composed of a wide variety of striking flavours and scents, Moroccan cuisine draws its originality from a combination between Berber, Arab-Andalusian, and Jewish culinary traditions. Thanks to its rich cultural heritage specific to each region, Morocco has built an undisputed reputation worldwide.

From Pastilla, Couscous, Rfissa, Tajine, to Méchoui, Moroccan culinary art symbolizes a variety of influences that have given rise to a rich tradition. The dishes are certainly tasty, but Moroccan pastry also has its say. Gazelle horns, Briouates with honey, Ghriba… These sweet little delights, which are served especially during Eid celebrations, seduce the most demanding gourmets.

LOCAL PRODUCTS

Morocco makes the most of its generous nature. Skilled craftsmen use inherited know-how to shape beautiful products. The local products are of an incomparable richness: spices such as saffron, also called “red gold”, olive oil, honey and orange blossom water, not forgetting the exquisite taste of argan oil. The hammam ritual uses henna, rose water, black soap and ghassoul. Let yourself be tempted by their benefits.

Traditional craftmanship and design are one of the deep-rooted cultural heritage.
